When government guidelines change or you suddenly have to self-isolate, it can turn your life around in a single day. Here are our tips from experienced therapist, Joanne, for coping when things change fast… We’ve included the top five and you can access the full set below.

  1. Nearly every aspect of life is different at the moment. We will all be coping in different ways. Acknowledge how you are feeling; there are no “right” or “wrong” emotions
  2. In order to cope with the huge amount of uncertainty – try to notice and focus on what is more certain and under your control
  3. Focus on activities you CAN do at the moment and if there are activities that you are unable to do, think about what you valued in those activities and consider other alternative activities that are in line with that value.
  4. Ask yourself “what kind of person do I want to be in this situation?”
  5. Ground yourself in the current situation, taking things one day at a time, however, do make plans for coping if you identify difficult upcoming situations
